PEORIA, Ill. – A popular Peoria food fest will not happen for a third straight year.
Peoria Area Community Events announced on social media Thursday the 2022 Taste of Peoria is being cancelled.
This time, the after-effects of COVID-19 are being blamed. They say given the current economic and employment situations providing the event this year is “cost-prohibitive.”
They instead encourage you to shop and eat locally as much as you can, so the Taste can hopefully return next year.
“We believe the better option for 2022 is to encourage everyone to continue to support and spend at local restaurant and business establishments to further assist in the economic recovery of our community so we can work to provide the community with the quality events it deserves and expects,” said PACE, in a Facebook post. “As an all-volunteer run organization we encourage you to support your local community organizations, not just with dollars, but with your time as well.”
