EUREKA, Ill. – A hearing in a few months could finally determine whether a trial can be held in the case of a juvenile accused of setting a fire in 2019 that killed five people.
25 News reports Woodford County Judge Charles Feeney Friday set a “discharge hearing” for August 12th in the case of the now-11-year-old boy — identified by his mother in the media as Kyle Alwood.
Evidence is expected to be presented at the hearing to determine whether the boy could be fit to stand trial within the next year.
Alwood allegedly set a fire in a mobile home park in Goodfield that killed the five. He’s been charged with murder.
Last month, a judge okayed Alwood not having to be in the courtroom if the case does go to trial.
