PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria County’s Coroner says he’s pretty sure the death of a half-brother of Navin Jones, 8, wasn’t an accident, and a meeting next Monday may end up helping to prove that.
Jamie Harwood tells 25 News a meeting Monday with the Woodford County State’s Attorney and a detective, along with Peoria County’s Forensic Pathologist and an Illinois State Police Detective will be held, in order to talk about the death of Nigel Ragon, three months, in 2006.
Harwood says he expects to go over the case and discuss next steps.
Ragon’s death was listed as due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, but Harwood wanted to reopen the case after Navin Jones ended up dead, and his parents — 35-year-old Stephanie Jones and 40-year-old Brandon Walker — charged with murder for allegedly beating and malnourishing Navin.
