PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man has been found guilty of charges filed last year after beating his wife repeatedly with a hammer.
Peoria County Court records indicate Hakob Sahakyan, 64, was convicted Wednesday of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Domestic Battery, and Aggravated Battery, following a bench trial.
Sahakyan was arrested April 25, 2021, after police found a woman unresponsive in in a home on West Forestglen in North Peoria, and had suffered a serious head injury.
Published reports suggested Sahakyan and the victim were going through a divorce at the time.
Sahakyan is scheduled to be sentenced June 14.
