PEORIA, Ill. — The driver who crashed into the deck of a Peoria home has been identified.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said 85-year-old Richard Huizinga, of Peoria, suffered a catastrophic heart attack and likely died before his vehicle hit the deck.
Peoria Police responded to the intersection of Miramar and University just before 10:30 a.m. Wednesday on reports of a single-vehicle accident.
Huizinga’s car was traveling west on Miramar when he drove through the four-lane intersection at N. University, left the road, and struck the deck of a home on Teakwood Court.
The Coroner’s Office has been unsuccessful in locating Huizinga’s next-of-kin.
