PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria County Sheriff’s Deputies say a suspect broke into a West Peoria home this week, ransacked the place, but stole very little of any value.
The break-in reportedly occurred, around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
25-year-old Kelsey Fay, who lives at the residence on Ardmore Place, told responding officers the only thing missing from inside her home was $7 in cash from a small keepsake box.
Expensive jewelry and laptops also kept inside the residence were untouched.
The rest of the home was tossed upside down with cabinets and dresser drawers opened and tossed, furniture upended and moved.
Fay told investigators she had no idea who would do such a thing.
According to an incident report, she said she had no girlfriend, boyfriend, family member or friends who might have access to her house.
Deputies say — it’s worth noting that earlier in the night, 2 male subjects were spotted trying to break into cars nearby Fay’s home.
An investigation is still ongoing.
