NORMAL, Ill. – Union harmony is once again in place at Illinois State University.
25 News reports more than 92 percent of the 350 workers represented by AFSCME Local 1110 have approved a new union contract.
The accord was reached not long after the union filed an intent to strike.
“It wasn’t easy, but by standing together in our union we made important strides toward nearly all our goals,” said Chuck Carver, ISU building service worker and president of AFSCME Local 1110, to 25 News.
The contract covering janitorial, grounds, catering, dining center, and retail dining employees is retroactive to July of last year, and expires in 2025.
