PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man has pleaded guilty to a federal charge accusing him of possessing a weapon.
Court records indicate Don Young, Jr, 22, pleaded guilty Thursday to a charge of “Possession of a Machinegun.”
An indictment indicates Young fled from Peoria Police officers last December 15th on a motorized bike, as they were attempting to arrest him on a number of outstanding warrants.
Officers caught up with him as he fled on foot, but also later discovered a Glock Model 19 9 mm pistol, with a device on it allowing it to fire more than one round at a time.
The gun had a live round in it, along with a high capacity magazine.
Young is scheduled to be sentenced August 15th, and could receive up to ten years in federal prison.
