PEORIA, Ill. — An elderly woman, allegedly killed by her grandson this week in West Peoria, suffered multiple severe blunt force trauma injuries, according to new information released by the Peoria County Coroner’s office.
Coroner Jamie Harwood released autopsy findings earlier today, saying 73-year-old Glenda Rusterholz died from what appeared to be a bad beating. He says the injuries are also consistent with a likely assault by another person.
The woman’s 28-year-old grandson, Cody Krause is booked in jail on a charge of First Degree Murder in the case.
Deputies originally responded to a call on Kim Moor Avenue near Airport Road in West Peoria around 7 a.m. Thursday.
They found the 73-year-old woman lying inside. She was pronounced dead by first responders at 8:30 a.m.
This is a developing story and an ongoing investigation as the State’s Attorney’s Office now takes over the case.
Krause was scheduled to be in bonding court on Friday.
