PEORIA, Ill. – A man from Edwards has been identified as the victim in a fatal crash Friday evening.
The Peoria County Coroner says Darrell Harper, 58, was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was the lone occupant in a vehicle westbound on Southport Road around 8:45 p.m. which struck a pickup truck head-on travelling eastbound.
Harper likely died instantly from what the coroner says was multiple blunt force trauma injuries. Toxicology tests are pending.
The two passengers of the truck were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation into the crash continues.

PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. — Police say one man was killed and two others were injured in a head-on collision in Peoria County Friday night.
According to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on Southport Road, near N. Koerner Road around 8:45 p.m.
An investigation revealed a sedan going westbound and hit a pickup truck head-on.
The driver of the sedan – an adult male – was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two adult passengers in the pickup were taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Limestone and Brimfield Fire Departments.
The accident is still under investigation.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the Peoria County Coroner at a later time, pending notification of family.
