PEORIA, Ill. — Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) announced on Thursday that the Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity, Inc. will receive $3.6 million in federal grant money for the city’s Headstart program.
Bustos said funding from the Department of Health and Human Services will help promote school readiness of infants, toddlers and school-aged children.
Since 1964, PCCEO, a Community Action Agency and leadership organization, has been working to improve living standards, promote life-long learning and self-sufficiency for low-income families and children in Peoria County.
