AURORA, Ill. – AAA says the average price of a gallon of gas in Peoria is getting a little better, but not much, despite the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The Peoria-Pekin current average gas price is at just more than $4.51 a gallon — about four-and-a-half cents lower than a week ago.
The current average, though, is about a penny lower a gallon than the statewide average.
The price of diesel fuel hit a record high Sunday in Peoria, at $4.92 a gallon. It’s gone down a few-tenths of a cent since then.
AAA says they would normally see an increase in demand for gas thanks to better weather, but nationally, it’s dipped slightly.
A AAA survey found nearly two thirds of people say they would have to change driving habits or lifestyle if the cost of gas is greater than four dollars per gallon.
