PEORIA, Ill. – A Morton man will become the next head of Peoria’s 182nd Airlift Wing.
25 News reports the honor will go to Colonel Rusty Ballard as of June 4th. That’s when Colonel Dan McDonough will retire.
Ballard is a combat pilot who has spent nearly the last three decades in the military.
McDonough commanded the wing for most of the last five years.
“It is an absolute honor to be selected to lead the 182nd Airlift Wing, which has proven itself multiple times as a premier organization in the C-130 Air Force community,” said Ballard, according to 25 News.
