PEORIA, Ill. — Federal prosecutors say a Peoria has pleaded guilty to charges he stole more than 20 firearms from a local gun shop.
29-year-old Corey Brooks broke in through a window at Pinnacle Gun and Ammo back on July 7, 2021.
Brooks then climbed into the business and removed two shotguns and 20 handguns.
It took less than a day for agents from the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and officers with Peoria Police to track Brooks down and arrest him.
Investigators used blood left near the broken window to make a positive I.D. on Brooks and then published a photo to help locate him.
Brooks faces up to 10 years in prison following the guilty plea.
He’s set for sentencing on June 29, 2022.
