PEORIA, Ill. – Major League Baseball may not have a season as of yet because of the lockout, but Minor League Baseball will.
That includes the Peoria Chiefs, which start up about a month from now.
And for General Manager Jason Mott, there so far hasn’t been any doubt.
“We’ve known from the very beginning, with a lockout, that it wouldn’t fall down to us on any level,” said Mott.
Mott says, though, one question remains.
“The only thing that might potentially affect us, really, is what players we get,” said Mott. “Some guys that probably should be here may end up having to be pushed up a level.”
Being Saint Louis Cardinals affiliates, Mott says the lockout might have more of an impact on the Memphis Redbirds than on his team.
Mott’s thoughts on the lockout in general? He’s disappointed.
“It’s unfortunate…that they didn’t get a deal done,” said Mott. “I think, honestly, as a baseball fan myself, you want to see it. You want to see baseball. That’s our industry.”
Single game tickets for the Chiefs season go on sale starting in just a few days.
