PEORIA, Ill. – Some healthcare professionals in Peoria are getting a message of “thanks a lot” — even though the Girl Scouts no longer sell a cookie by that name.
A nine-year-old girl named Brooklyn got donations from her family and had seven lemonade stands raising enough money to buy 525 boxes of Girl Scout cookies, which she delivered Friday to UnityPoint Methodist Medical Center.
“We were hoping that we would get to go in to the hospitals this year,” said Sidnee Tolley, Brooklyn’s mother, to news partner 25 News. “But, because of the situation, we still weren’t allowed in. But, [Brooklyn] still had fun doing the drop off.”
Tolley said her daughter plans on doing it again next year.
Brooklyn also collected stuffed animals that were donated to Saint Jude, and the OSF Children’s Hospital.
