PEORIA, Ill. – A Pekin man is in trouble with the law in Peoria after allegedly giving chase to police and having a gun with him.
Peoria Police say it happened Thursday afternoon near Laveille and Madison. An officer on patrol noticed a suspicious vehicle, and when attempting to pull it over, the passenger got out and fled.
That passenger allegedly turned out to be Jay Diegel, 44, who was seen running with a pistol in his hand, which authorities believe was reported stolen from McDonough County.
Diegel was caught on Madison, and is being charged with several felony weapons-related counts, and was found to be wanted on two Tazewell County warrants.
He’s now in the Peoria County Jail.
