PEORIA, Ill — Just days since announcing a run for Peoria County sheriff, one candidate is reportedly now dropping out.
Long-time Deputy Blaine Duhs announced on Saturday that he would be seeking the office, but today on Facebook he suggests his values and principles now prevent him from doing so.
It’s about the newest candidate in the race, Capt. Chris Watkins.
Duhs says he is a long-time friend and someone he does not want to — QUOTE — “tear down” in a political campaign.
Watkins announced his run earlier this week and appears poised as the man being groomed to succeed outgoing Sheriff Brian Asbell.
Asbell announced late last fall he would not seek another term as Sheriff.
