PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria Park District facility in South Peoria will soon get some much-needed renovations.
Our news partner 25 News reports the Proctor Recreation Center is getting $2 million in work including air conditioning in both gyms, the moving of a weight room, and the addition of recording and editing studios, along with e-sports and other things.
“We want…for this to be really a holistic experience at Proctor so that it can be a one stop shop to support kids and families as they look forward to build their futures,” Emily Cahill, Peoria Park District Executive Director, told 25 News. “We just haven’t had the resources until now to be able to bring those to fruition.”
Cahill says it’s part of a $4 million grant that also includes work at Glen Oak Park, pending state approval.
The building was originally constructed in the late-1800’s.
