PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria County Sheriffs Department says the public gets credit for information that led to the arrest of a Hanna City man for allegedly causing a fatal hit-and-run accident.
The Sheriffs Department says a Crime Stoppers tip led to the arrest Wednesday of Daniel Dotzert, 46, on charges of Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Death.
The accident happened early New Years Day around 5:40 a.m. on Plank Road a few miles east of Hanna City. Caleb Charlson, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives had been looking for a truck that was seen leaving that area, possibly with a flat tire.
Dotzert is jailed pending court appearances.
