PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria’s top cop is telling lawbreakers that “enough is enough” once again, as gun violence continues despite there being no homicides in the last month.
But this time, Chief Eric Echevarria says his department is shifting operations to make sure the bad guys are caught.
“We will use every resource available to law enforcement while we focus on you (criminals),” said Echevarria. “We will only stop when the violence ends. You wanted our attention, now you have it.”
Other than bringing up juvenile crime a number of times, Echevarria did not target any specific group, nor would he give specifics.
“We’re going to direct every resource, and our manpower, to the areas that the data and evidence show that the violent crime and gun violence is happening,” said Echevarria.
Echevarria said he didn’t want to give away any secrets to the lawbreakers.
He did say, though, that he is concerned with repeat juvenile offenders.
The chief also wants stronger penalties for those convicted of crimes.
