PEORIA, Ill. — A house went up in flames Wednesday afternoon in Peoria.
Firefighters were called just after 4 p.m. to the 600 block of Vine Street. They found heavy smoke coming from the first and second floor.
The fire on the first floor had extended up the stairs to the second floor. It was extinguished in about 20 minutes.
A search found no one was inside the home.
The Red Cross was called to assist the homeowner with temporary lodging.
Crews remained on the scene for about two hours. No injuries were reported.
Damage was estimated at $10,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
