MAPLETON, Ill. – An East Peoria man is dead after falling at Caterpillar’s Mapleton Foundry.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says Scott W. Adams, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene at around 9:40 a.m. Thursday after what they called a “fatal occupational accident.”
Officials say Adams, who fell from “a significant height,” was a contractor working at the plant.
“We are deeply saddened by the death of a third-party service provider employee who was involved in an accident in our Mapleton facility on December 23,” said Kate Kenny, Caterpillar corporate spokesperson, in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the worker’s family, friends and colleagues. We strive each day to have a safe workspace for our employees, contractors and visitors. As this accident is currently under review, we are not able to provide any additional information at this time.”
