MORTON, Ill. – A local lawmaker based in Morton is calling it a career.
88th District State Representative Keith Sommer says he is retiring and not seeking another term next year.
Sommer’s first term started in 1999.
“It’s been an honor to serve, but it’s time for me to step away and encourage others who wish to represent these amazing communities,” said Sommer, in a news release. “I can’t begin to thank the thousands of people who have supported me in ways, large and small, especially my family.”
A news release says Sommer, among other things, has been known as an advocate for small government. His district includes Tazewell and McLean Counties.
