Peoria, Ill — A juvenile has suffered non-life threatening injuries in a shooting reported late Wednesday near downtown Peoria.
Peoria Police Public Information Officer Semone Roth says officers got the call to a crime scene in the 1500 block of Northeast Jefferson Street near Caroline Street.
The initial call came in as a Shot-Spotter alert around 4:50 p.m.
When officers arrived, Roth says they found a juvenile with a bullet wound.
The release goes further to say the victim is currently listed in stable condition at a Peoria-area hospital.
Indications are the victim is a juvenile male.
No further details were released about the victim nor any further information about a possible suspect.
The shooting comes amidst a broader spike in certain violent crimes across the city, particularly homicides.
