PEORIA, Ill. — A head-on collision on I-74 early Thursday morning left one person seriously injured in Peoria.
Illinois State Police say around 1 a.m., a westbound semi-truck collided with a pickup going eastbound, after the driver of the pickup drove up the exit from Sterling Avenue.
Crews had to use the “Jaws of Life” to free 35-year-old Ian Kumer, of East Peoria, from his vehicle. He was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the semi was not injured.
Kumer was charged with Driving Under The Influence, Driving Wrong Way, Failure to Wear Seatbelt, No Valid Insurance, and Illegal Transportation of Alcohol.
