PEORIA, Ill. – The feds say a Peoria man faces charges for allegedly breaking in to to a gun shop in Bloomington earlier this week.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Dajuan Edwards-Melton, 20, faces charges of Burglary and Possession of Stolen Firearms.
Prosecutors say Bloomington Police were called to “Smiley’s Sports Shop” on Ireland Grove Road on Sunday for a reported burglary. Display cases were discovered shattered and as many as 25 guns were taken.
Police from Bloomington and Peoria, along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms were led to Edwards-Melton, who was arrested Monday.
He’s in the custody, and is scheduled for a court hearing Friday afternoon.
