PEORIA, Ill. — $1.7 million. That’s this year’s goal of the Salvation Army’s Tree of Lights Campaign.
Major Health Sells, Tri-County Development Director for the Salvation Army, says a Red Kettle match from MH Equipment this weekend (Dec. 10-12) doubles every donation up to $25,000, making an even greater impact in Peoria.
Sells says now more than ever, people are struggling to make ends meet.
“You know, two dollars, that provides a meal for someone in need, 500 dollars, that makes that sure someone stays in their home. So, much of what the Salvation Army is known for is emergency food and shelter…feeding those who are homeless,” Sells says.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sells tells WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show”, the Salvation Army’s had an increased focus on keeping families from becoming homeless.
Red Kettles are located throughout the Peoria area. You can also give HERE online.
