PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police are in a standoff Tuesday afternoon with one, and maybe two, armed subjects.
Police are saying the incident is unfolding in the 1100 block of North Sheridan Road, a block north of Main Street.
A man working at a nearby business tells WMBD he saw close to two dozen police cruisers as well as at least one police tacitical vehicle on scene.
He noted the situation is unfolding at a notorious “problem property” in the neighborhood.
Two men are inside the home, according police, and officers were called there due to a disagreement.
Peoria Public Schools officials say while no one was allowed in or out of nearby Franklin Primary Schools for a time, everyone inside was allowed to move about freely, and dismissal happened Tuesday afternoon as normal.
Sheridan between Columbia Terrace and Main is currently closed to traffic. Elizabeth Street in the area is also blocked.
