PEORIA, Ill. – A Pekin man is going to federal prison for more than a decade for having methamphetamine in his possession two years ago, and admitting he had just been released from prison when he had it.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says a federal judge gave Daniel W. Dawe, 48, twelve years and seven months in prison, followed by eight years on parole, after pleading guilty in June to Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute.
Dawe was in a car pulled over in November of 2019, and he had baggies of ice methamphetamine on him. He told investigators at the time he had been just released from state prison six months before on state methamphetamine charges.
Dawe could have faced anywhere from ten years to life in prison because of his record.
