PEORIA, Ill. — A fire in Peoria’s East Bluff neighborhood has claimed a life.
Emergency crews were called to the 1200 block of E. Virginia just after 5 a.m. Wednesday. They found a home in flames, and someone deceased in the room where the fire started.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said the body was severely burned.
“We’re currently waiting for a comparison of dental records. The person was unfortunately burned badly enough that we couldn’t make an initial identification,” Harwood said.
Harwood said once the autopsy is complete, a cause of death and the person’s identity will be released.
