SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illinois Attorney General says there is a new way he can increase focus on online child exploitation.
Kwame Raoul says there will be a mobile forensic facility that will better be able to support the investigation of child pornography.
“Our investigators and partners will hopefully be able to make use of this to more quickly review digital evidence on the scene,” said Raoul.
Raoul says many times smaller law enforcement agencies just don’t have easy access to the tools needed to investigate potential child pornography cases.
“Unfortunately, there are victims, from toddlers to teenagers, that are affected every day with this, with lifetime consequences,” said Doug Quivey, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Central District of Illinois.
The work is being done through the state’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. As part of the task force’s work, the Illinois Attorney General’s office is starting a series of webinars for parents so they can help children develop better internet habits.
The monthly series starts this Thursday at 6:30 p.m., and will take place the first Thursday of every month. Parents can register by e-mailing karilyn.orr@ilag.gov.
