PEORIA, Ill. — A federal judge has sentenced a Washington man to 10 years in federal prison for trying to lure a minor into having sex with him.
After serving his sentence, 28-year-old Thomas Alt must spend 15 years on supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
A jury found Alt guilty following a trial last May. Prosecutors said they presented evidence that showed Alt used the Grindr app to arrange a sexual encounter with someone he thought was 15-years old.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Springfield Division, Illinois State Police, Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, and the Peoria Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG) were involved in investigating the case.
