PEORIA, Ill. — One person was hospitalized for smoke inhalation Monday night after a kitchen fire caused damage to a single story home in Peoria.
Crews were called to the 4300 block of N. Nelson Drive around 7:50 p.m. Once crews were at the scene, they found smoke coming from the front door of the home.
Fire Battalion Chief Tom Sander said the fire was put out quickly and contained to the kitchen.
The home suffered significant smoke damage. An investigator determined the cause of the fire was accidental.
No firefighters were injured.
The damage was estimated at $25,000.
