PEORIA, Ill. — A few weeks ago, the Peoria Park District announced possible changes at Glen Oak Park, including the removal of the amphitheater, but the wording wasn’t what it seemed.
“The amphitheater is not going away,” Peoria Park District Executive Director Emily Cahill told news partner 25 News Monday night.
The fears of many East Bluff residents were eased during Monday night’s community forum at the amphitheater about possible changes to Glen Oak Park.
“When I think about the amphitheater and as staff when we talk about the amphitheater, we’re talking about the bandshell behind us, not this larger natural space,” Cahill said.
The Peoria Park District clarified information Monday night, saying they need to move the bandshell to modernize it and make it more accessible.
Park District officials will continue to collect public input through the next month before any further proposals are made, Cahill said.
Another public meeting is planned for September 1.
