PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria firefighters contained a fire in a South Peoria residence to the living room area.
The blaze at 1026 S. Shelley St. was reported at 5:25 a.m. Sunday.
Battalion Chief Scott Strum says firefighters were met with high heat and low visibility conditions when they arrived on the scene of the one story residence.
No one was inside the building. No firefighters were injured.
Strum said while the fire was contained in the room of origin the remainder of the residence sustained heat and smoke damage.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
