PEORIA, Ill. — With plenty of sunshine and current temperatures in the 80s, snow plows aren’t exactly top of mind right now.
But, it’s a perfect time to create awareness about winter weather, driving in the snow and snow plows.
“Part of our winter prep is getting our snow plows prepped. So, right before that is when we’re offering this program, said Peoria Communications Specialist Alex Williams.
The “Paint a Plow” program got its start last year with five of Peoria’s plows being painted by local groups.
According to Williams, the program is really geared toward Peoria students and non-profit organizations like Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
“We want them to get involved so that they can create a little bit of excitement, and get eyes on snow plows,” Williams said.
Peoria Public Works is accepting applications to participate in “Paint a Plow” now through mid-September.
Anyone who is interested in applying should review the program details, and complete an application and participation waiver. They can be found on the City of Peoria website HERE.
