PEORIA,Ill. — Peoria Public Schools will require all students and staff to wear masks this school year.
Peoria School Board President Gregory Wilson said the decision was made to put safety first.
PPS will continue COVID-19 testing and encourage those who can be vaccinated, to get vaccinated.
Also on Monday night, the school board voted to give full-time PPS employees a one-time payment of $2,000 as COVID-19 relief pay funded by the federal government’s American Rescue Plan and Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief program.
The school board also ratified a contract with the union representing transportation workers. They will receive a 2.5% salary increase in addition to step increases during the three-year contract.
