UPDATE 2:15 P.M. — Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood has identified the man who was killed Tuesday night as 19-year-old De’Monyae Zaire Phelps, of Peoria.
Phelps suffered multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body and died instantly, according to Harwood.

PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert at approximately 11:42 p.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of W. Kettelle Street, indicating multiple shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers found an adult male victim inside a vehicle in the 300 block of S. Shelley. Officers began emergency medical treatment, but the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the victim as well as the manner and cause of death will be released by the Peoria County coroner after the autopsy is completed.
The incident is being investigated as Peoria’s 18th homicide of 2021.
Police have no suspects at this time.
