PEORIA, Ill. — Robert Ely Wednesday pleaded not guilty for the murder of Dr. William Marshall.
Prosecutors say Ely conned his way into Marshall’s home in January before stabbing him to death. He is facing five charges, including first-degree murder.
William Wolff, Ely’s attorney, said he plans to file a continuance for more time to collect discovery.
Ely’s next court date is set for Aug. 19 at 1 p.m.
