SECAUCUS, N.J. — For the first time in 28 years, two Bradley baseball players were selected in the top 10 rounds of the Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft.
Left-handed pitcher Brooks Gosswein, from Barrington, Ill., was selected in the fourth round by the Chicago White Sox.
Right-handed pitcher Theron Denlinger, from Cuba City, Wis., was picked by the White Sox in the seventh round.
Gosswein is Bradley’s highest draft pick in 15 years after Brandon Magee was selected 120th overall by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2006.
Gosswein led the Braves in 2021 with 53 strikeouts, while ranking second on the team with 52.2 innings pitched.
Denlinger ranks third in school history with 13 career saves, while striking out 48 batters in 44 innings.
In 2021, he ranked second in the Missouri Valley Conference with six saves.
Gosswein and Denlinger are the two highest drafted players under head coach Elvis Dominguez during his 13 years on campus and the 14th and 15th players drafted under his watch overall.
Gosswein was the 124 overall pick, while Denlinger was 215 overall.
