PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria firefighters were called just before 4 p.m. Wednesday to an apartment fire in the 5400 block of W. Hay Meadow Lane.
Crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the second floor of the building and the fire extending into the attic area.
Fire Battalion Chief Scott Strum said the fire was under control in less than 30 minutes.
A search of the building found no one inside.
A Fire Investigator determined the cause of the fire was accidental.
No injuries were reported.
Crews remained on the scene for two hours extinguishing hot spots.
Property management secured temporary housing for ten occupants.
Damage was estimated at $200,000.
