SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Friday reported 626 new cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 15 additional deaths.
It’s the sixth straight day in the state that fewer than 700 new cases have been reported.
As of Thursday night, 901 Illinoisans were hospitalized with the virus. Of those, 247 were in the ICU and 140 were on ventilators.
More than 53,000 vaccine doses were reported administered in Illinois Thursday. The state average of daily doses administered in the last week is just above 36,000.
Due to state metrics performing well, Gov. JB Pritzker announced Friday the state will move to Phase 5 of Restore Illinois June 11.
