PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department (PCCHD) Friday reported three fewer patients are in area hospital beds due to COVID-19 compared to Thursday.
One fewer person occupies an ICU bed, while two fewer people are in non-ICU beds in the tri-county area.
Hospitalizations continue to decrease, along with hospitalizations in Region 2, over the last couple weeks.
Just two weeks ago, 120 patients were in area hospitals with the virus compared to the 56 reported Friday.
PCCHD Friday also reported two additional area deaths. One was a Peoria County male in his 70s, while a Woodford County female in her 70s also succumbed to the virus.
Overall, 43 new cases of the virus were reported in the last 24 hours.
Peoria County reported 18 new cases, Tazewell County reported 24, and Woodford County again reported just one new case.
On a Region 2 level, ICU bed capacity has dipped back down to 22% after being up to 24% two days ago.
Other metrics, however, continue to trend in the right direction.
Seven-day rolling test postivity is now under 3% at 2.8%, and six fewer patients were hospitalized compared to 24 hours ago.
