PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Tuesday reported four additional area residents have succumbed to COVID-19.
In Peoria County, a female in her 60s and a female in her 80s died. In Tazewell County, a male in his 80s died from the virus. In Woodford County, a male in his 50s died.
Overall, just 47 new cases of COVID were reported in the tri-county area.
Peoria County reported 27 new cases, Tazewell County added 19 cases, and Woodford County reported just one new case.
Hospitalizations continued to decline in the area, as nine fewer patients were hospitalized Tuesday compared to Monday.
As of Tuesday, 69 patients were hospitalized with the virus. Of those, 19 were considered intensive-care level.
On a regional level, all major statistics continue to trend in the right direction.
ICU bed capacity in Region 2 increased again, going up to 23%. Hospitalizations decreased by nine in the region in the last 24 hours, while the positivity rate dropped to 3.2%.
