PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Monday reported eight area deaths over the weekend due to COVID-19.
Six deaths were attributed to Peoria County as four men died, one each in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s. The men in their 40s, 50s, and 60s were reported to have comobidities.
A Peoria female in her 30s with comorbidities also died, as did a female in her 60s.
Tazewell County reported a male in his 60s succumbed to the virus, while a Woodford County female in her 70s died.
Overall, the tri-county reported a total of 172 new cases. Peoria County reported 103, Tazewell County reported 54, and Woodford County reported just 15.
ICU bed usage remained steady at 29, but non-ICU beds in use for COVID-19 patients increased by six to 97.
Region 2 of Illinois, which includes the tri-county, has had its positivity rate decrease to 4.4%, and patients hospitalized has decreased for a seventh straight day.
ICU capacity in the region remains at 16%.
