PEORIA, Ill. — At least five people in the Peoria-Tazewell-Woodford tri-county between Thursday and Friday died from COVID-19 complications.
In Tazewell County, a woman in her 50s and a man in his 80s passed away.
Woodford County had a man in his 70s and a woman in her 70s, as well as a man in his 90s all succumb to the virus.
The Peoria City/County Health Department said Peoria County hospitals were delayed in their reporting, and any deaths from this reporting period would be reflected in Monday’s report.
A total of 205 people tested positive. 112 of them are Peoria County residents, 69 live in Tazewell, and 24 are located in Woodford.
Hospitalizations decreased slightly. 164 virus patients as of Friday afternoon were in hospital beds, of whom 46 were intensive care level, the same ICU number as Thursday.
Two of Region Two’s COVID metrics trended Friday in promising directions. Rolling seven-day positivity rate dropped over half a percentage point from Thursday’s number, from 6.6% to 6%, while the amount of patients in hospital beds throughout the region remained at 295.
ICU bed availability remained low, at 16%.
