UPDATE 4/21/21 2:15 P.M. — John W. Beck was arrested Wednesday morning at a hotel in Springfield, Ill. at approximately 11:30 a.m. for a Livingston County warrant for Armed Robbery and a Department of Corrections Parole Violation Warrant.
He will also be charged in Peoria County with armed robbery for Tuesday’s robbery of Elmwood Community Bank, according to Peoria County Sheriff Brian Asbell.
Beck was booked into the Sangamon County Jail on Livingston and Peoria County charges in addition to the identified IDOC parole violation warrant and will most likely be extradited to Livingston County Jail in next few days.

ELMWOOD, Ill. — A suspect is at-large after robbing Elmwood Community Bank around 10:40 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The suspect was armed with a pipe and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5-foot-9-inches tall and 160 pounds.
Peoria County Detectives developed a person of interest that matched the description, John W. Beck, from a separate bank robbery that occurred on April 9 at Odell Bank in Livingston County.
Beck is also on parole for bank robbery in Champaign County.
It is believed he is driving a stolen white Prius registration 436976 and is involved in Tuesday’s robbery of Elmwood Community Bank.
Beck is considered very dangerous and has an extensive criminal history. If Beck is seen, call police immediately.
