PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Monday reported an overall increase of 11 hospitalized patients due to COVID-19 compared to Friday, a concerning trend that continues to increase in recent weeks.
However, positivity rate in Region 2 of Illinois has started to head back down and now sits at 7%. Before the downward trend that started three days ago, the region had been seeing constant increases, much like hospitalizations.
Four deaths were reported due to COVID-19 in Peoria County over the weekend: a male in his 70s, a male in his 80s with comorbidities, a female in her 60s with comorbidities, and a female in her 70s with comorbidities.
Overall, 532 new cases were reported throughout the tri-county area over the weekend.
Peoria County reported the most with 340, Tazewell County added 160 cases, and Woodford County saw an increase of 32.
Regional ICU bed capacity dipped to just 17%, while the region also continues to see an increase in hospitalizations daily.
