PEORIA, Ill. — A Peoria house was awaiting emergency demolition after an early Wednesday morning blaze.
The Peoria Fire Department was dispatched around 3:00 to 715 W. MacQueen Ave.
Upon their arrival at the scene, crews found a 1.5 story home fully engulfed.
Peoria Police received reports a person may have been inside, but it turned out the structure was vacant.
When crews made their initial entry, they found the steps inside leading to the upper floor had been destroyed by the fire, so they had to use multiple ladders to attack the flames on the second level.
It took about 20 minutes to bring the fire under control.
No firefighters were injured.
Peoria Building and Code Enforcement deemed the house unsafe, and ordered the demolition.
